JioPhone, first 4G feature phone is soon expected to be delivered to the customers who pre-booked it during the last week of August 2017. The company claims, it has pre-booked almost 6 Million phones in two days. The JioPhone is great as far as the specifications are concerned. The phone has 2.4 Inch display, two cameras, 2000 mAH battery, Wi-Fi, 4G VoLTE, internet browser and lot more. Jio has priced the JioPhone at Rs. 1500 (in form of refundable security) and customers have the option to return the phone after three years to get the security amount back (making the phone effectively free).
Why should you not consider buying Jio Phone
1. Yearly Recharge Limitation
While the JioPhone has been marketed effectively free initially, but the company now has laid the term and conditions. As per these terms and conditions, you have to recharge the phone for an amount of Rs. 1500 yearly, for the three-year period. You can use any recharge options offered by the company to reach the Rs. 1500/year mark. However, if you fail to recharge the phone for Rs. 1500/year, Reliance Jio can take the phone back from you. If this is before the 36 month period, then it will levy the early charges as well on the refundable deposit.
2. Early Return of the Jio Phone
As per the terms and conditions, the customers can return the JioPhone at any time during the period of three years from the date of purchase by payment of the following charges (“Early Return Charges”):

3. Reliance JioPhone is SIM-locked
The Reliance JioPhone is SIM locked and you cannot use any other SIM except Jio. Further, the JioPhone is not a dual SIM phone. So, if the Jio services in your area are not good, then having only single Jio SIM will not be a good idea.
4. Pre-Booking Rush and Waiting Period
The JioPhone is not available easily. You have to pre-book it first and then wait for the stock to be available at Jio stores. You may have to wait for months to actually get the phone in hand.
Alternative to JioPhone, Micromax Bharat One, Coming Soon
Jio Phone is not a bad option but a lot of terms and conditions and wait period is something which many would not like. If you are the one who does not like JioPhone due to its aforementioned reasons, there is a good news. Micromax in partnership with BSNL is also expected to launch a new 4G feature phone to be named Micromax Bharat One. As per the reports, the phone is expected to be available from the first week of October 2017.
Micromax Bharat One is expected to be available at a price point of close to INR 2000 – INR 2500. Further, BSNL will bundle the various attractive offers such as free voice calls, data as per the reports. The phone is expected to have Dual Core, 1.1 GHz Spreadtrum Processor, 512 MB RAM, 2.4 inches display, 2 MP Primary Camera, and 1500 mAh battery.
Micromax Bharat One has very good specifications and expected to give very tough competition to the JioPhone. If Micromax and BSNL do not lay down any terms and conditions like JioPhone, then Bharat One will be a better offer than JioPhone.
